The Study About Applications of Intrusion Mechanics in The Treatment of Excessive Deep Overbite

Abstract
Deep overbite is a part of malocclusion which is frequently shown in the orthodontic treatment. But it is not easy to successfully treat it.
This report has reviewed literatures about a deep overbite and its treatment, and showed two clinical cases for the illustrations. There are several techniques that can be selectively used for patients depending upon the result of diagnosis.
Above
all
should it be important to understand the intrusion mechanics and responses in patients.
@ES The followings explained below have been obtained as results of this study:
@EN 1. The results of treatment should not be limited only by a particular treatment technique but an intrusion technique should be chosen according to patients diagnosis.
2. Edgewise technique, Begg technique and Mulligan 2¡¿method are thought to be effective for intrusion treatment if patients have favorable vertical growth patterns and the inclination of incisor and the extrusion of the molars don't have any
undesirable effects on the result of treatment by these techniques.
3. Ricketts utility arch can be an effective technique the intrusion if a complicated problem for two different kinds of force systems which are resulted from one kind of moment by directly inserted wire into anterior bracket slots and other
kind
of
moment by tip back bends on an archwire is clinically resolved by practitioners.
4. Burstones intrusion arch should be an effective method for pure intrusion of anterior teeth as explained before because its force systems can be easily understood by practitioners and it prevents posterior teeth for anchorage from being
extruded
during treatment at the most. But this method needs more chairtime than others due to requirement and construction of three sectional arches, depressing arch, transpalatal arch, lingual arch and headgear etc. so can the result of treatment be
depended
by the amount of patients cooperation.
5. Light and continuous forces must be applied during intrusion of anterior teeth in order to minimize the risk of root resorption as possible as can. It is very important that practitioner should regularly and consistantly take good care of
periodontal tissue especially in adult patients during infusion treatment.
